Marshallton Horse Barn

Overlooking the Marshallton countryside from its hilltop perch, the design of this new horse barn is inspired by local farm and outbuilding vernacular. Expanses of fieldstone, cypress board-and-batten siding, and a standing-seam metal roof establish a relevant material palette that reflects the region’s agricultural heritage. Inside, the barn is thoughtfully organized to support daily equestrian routines, with eight stalls, a wash stall, tack room, and feed room arranged for efficiency and ease of use. Oriented to capture natural light within the barn for the horses and visual connections across the pastures, the Marshallton Horse Barn balances functional performance with a distinct architectural presence, reinforcing the character of the farm while elevating it through deliberate, durable design.
